While roughly 55% of university graduates across the country are women, only 2/3 of this pool pursue a career in a STEM-related field. According to various surveys from WEF, Global Gender Gap Report, and BCG Research, only 15% to 22% of all Data Science professionals are women. A prominant reason for this is the learning environment and social belief system, especially starting in high school, can affect women’s progress and career choices.

As a woman planning to pursue data science, aware of these social biases, there is a strong reason why I love women who document and share their experiences in STEM fields. Not only does it show how possible it is to be successful in this field, but it provides women support and motivation throughout the process of pursuing their STEM careers.

Here’s a list of 6 of my favorite data science YouTubers that I find myself going back to very often as an undergraduate student studying data science. All of them answer the most asked questions about the data science field and are informative about the tasks and roles they carry out in their job.
