My Odds of Finding “The One”

Have you ever wondered, “Am I dating the right person? Is he/she THE ONE? Am I settling down too early? When we’re not FOMOing one way we’re FOMOing the other way. If I don’t settle down is he/she going to be “The One That Got Away?”

I decided that a little bit of data could solve this problem.

Before you say, “you can’t put a number to love”, I will say I completely agree. And if you say, “your girlfriend must be so angry with you for objectifying her”, let me say that she was curious though upset. And lastly, let me say this GRAPHic Novel has a happy ending.

The Method

There are a fixed number of people in the world and I have some basic requirements. Yes, love is blind, I know, but let’s have some fun and assume that some qualities are true deal breakers. You might have requirements for age, education, intelligence, attractiveness, interests, gender, height, language, etc. I’ll go through my requirements and you can follow along with your own preferences by making a copy of this Google Sheet. You’ll see how likely you are to find THE ONE in your life.

Open that spreadsheet and follow along :-)

Age and gender

There are slightly more men than women in the world. I’m interested in women between the age of 25 and 34, or about 7% of the population, or 14% of all women.

7billion*7% = 490million women in the world roughly the right age
