Let’s be honest; if you want to learn anything related to Data Science in particular, or tech in general, you can do so very easily with a single Google search. When it comes to data science, finding information is not the main problem people face when joining the field.

The problem most comes across is the complete opposite. When you’re new to data science, the amount of information out there is very overwhelming. So many videos, certificates, online/ offline courses, and blog posts. How do you find the good from the not-so-good? The ones with a style that is easy for you to understand and follow?

Some people love to follow the popular sources of information, because after all, if something is widely known, then it’s good. Unfortunately, this is not always the case; sometimes luck hits, especially when we talk about the internet. However, that’s not saying the popular data science educational sources are not good.

9 Comprehensive Cheat Sheets For Data Science

But, in this very challenging and demanding field, getting noticed is not always easy, not because of the resource quality but because of the number of resources out there. As a data science blogger who started from zero and still has miles to go, I understand the struggle new bloggers go through to prove themselves and stand out among the crowd.

I decided to write this article to discuss some not-so-famous data science blogs that share quality information, tutorials, and blogs. But, of course, there is much more quality work out there, and this list is merely a sample of that. You might have come across one or more of these blogs, but if you didn’t, maybe this article will introduce you to a new source of information.

№1: Domino Data Science Blog

Let’s kick our list off with the Domino Data Science Blog. This blog focuses on publishing in-depth articles about various aspects of data science, Machine Learning, and programming and publishes 1~2 articles per month. Every article on this blog is often detailed and accompanied by a video explanation of the topic covered for visual learners.

The blog focuses on purely technical aspects of data science and includes tutorial articles about practical applications of data science. Moreover, the blog also has a career section to find some openings and job positions in data science.

№2: Dataconomy

Next up, we have Dataconomy. Dataconomy is less of an in-depth blog and more of a news and information blog. This blog includes various articles addressing the new trends in the field of data science, the latest results from research papers, and some expert opinions on today’s data-driven society.

In addition, Dataconomy covers everything going on in the Big Data, Machine learning, and Business inelegance fields. The blog also hosts different events throughout the year, aiming to spread data science knowledge and form a community of data scientists worldwide.

№3: Little Miss Data

As a woman in tech, we always seek to build relations with other women in tech, as each of us has our own experiences to share. So I always looked for resources built by women, and the Little Miss Data blog didn’t disappoint. A female data scientist builds this blog to discuss all things data science and analytics.

Little Miss Data is quite an active blog with 3~5 blogs per month. But, my favorite part of this blog is the #FUNDATAFRIDAY section which includes short, concise, and fun 3 minute articles about one aspect or topic of data science. These lite yet information-filled mini-articles always fun to read.

№4: Predictive Hacks

Next up is Predictive hacks, or as it’s written on the website Predictive[‘hacks’], which is a blog created by Billy Bonaros & George Pipis. Both professional data scientists who are passionate about sharing their experience and the magic of data science with the world.

The blog contains many tutorials about different topics in data science with code to implement these tutorials. They also have a specific section for tips and hacks about writing efficient data science algorithms, making it in data science, and more. Finally, they provide a tips section that shows the most efficient way to perform everyday data science tasks.

№5: Data Science-ish

Another female-created blog is the Data Science-ish blog by Julia Silge, a data scientist at RStudio. In this blog, Julia discusses how she uses data science to answer interesting astronomy, physics, and education questions.

The Data Science-ish blog is an active blog with 3~4 blogs per month, focused on various topics. Sometimes, every month focuses on a specific aspect of data science or a new data science tool. The majority of the articles in this blog uses R as the main Programming language to build applications.

№6: Data Science 101

We will conclude this list with a blog specifically for beginner data scientists or those who want to get into data science, which is the Data Science 101 blog by Ryan Swanstrom. Rayan worked as a data scientist for many companies, including Microsoft and Wells Fargo, and he uses this blog to share his experience with the world.

A video tutorial of that post accompanies most posts on the Data Science 101 blog. The blog also offers information about possible data science bootcamps and colleges if you wish to get a degree in data science.

Takeaways

When we talk about a popular field like data science, there’re always some blogs or Youtube channels dominating the field, making it difficult for new people to come to it and leave their mark. But, if the newcomers provide quality work, quality explanations, and quality examples, they will shine regardless of the size of their starting audience.

I started from nothing; I never thought that people might find my articles useful; my whole goal was to write something that will benefit at least one person. I am glad for everyone who shared my work and helped me grow my audience, so I wanted to do the same for bloggers who work hard to provide quality work.
